How Do I Change My Account Settings?
All account settings, including changing your email address, language, name, and avatar, as well as notification settings, are available by clicking your avatar in the upper-right of the page and selecting “Settings”.
Why Should I Add an Avatar to My Account?
An avatar puts a face to your username and helps you engage more personally with other Kindling participants. It’s also a great way to make your Kindling contributions more memorable!
How Do I Change My Avatar?
Your avatar appears alongside any Ideas or Comments you make. To change it, select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Settings”. Click “Choose File” in the box labeled “Avatar” to find an image on your computer. Then, select “Save”.
Images must be in the jpg, png or gif format. Selecting “Reset Avatar” will replace any uploaded image with the default image. Uploaded images will be resized to fit within a square.
The first time you upload an avatar earns you 50 reputation points.
How Do I Change My Email Address?
To update your email address, select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Settings”. Enter your new email and press “Save”.
How Do I Change My Password?
To change your password, select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Settings”, then select “Password” from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
You must know your old password to create a new password. An Administrator cannot change your password for you.
Certain Kindling setups do not support changing your password; if you are logging in using LDAP or Active Directory credentials, or connecting to Kindling using SAML, for instance, your password cannot be changed within Kindling. Contact your company's system administrator to reset your password.
How Do I Reset My Password?
If you have forgotten your password, select the “Reset password” link on the login page of your company's Kindling and enter your email. A link to reset your password will be emailed to you.
If you cannot remember the email address you used to log into Kindling, or if your organization uses LDAP or Active Directory to log into Kindling, contact your administrator.
Why Should I Add Skills or Interests to My Account?
When you share your Skills or Interests, Kindling can more accurately recommend Ideas that might appeal to you.
How Do I Add a Skill to My Account?
Skills are an important component of Kindling’s recommendation engine. Adding skills helps Kindling recommend those Ideas that will most likely appeal to you.
To add a Skill, select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Settings”, then select “Skills” from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
Skills can be anything you're talented at. Add skills by typing them in the box and clicking “Save”, and delete skills by clicking the “X” next to the skill. Clicking a skill will search for that word in Kindling
How Do I Tell Kindling about My Interests?
When you share your Interests, Kindling can more accurately recommend Ideas that might appeal to you. To add Interests, select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Interests” from the menu.
Click the green “+” next to an interest to add it. To remove an interest, click the red “x” that appears next to its name.
Available interests are drawn from the keywords already being used in Kindling as tags on Ideas or user skills.
How Can I Tell Other Kindling Participants More about Myself?
As part of your profile setup, you can add a short bio to let people know more about you. Select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Settings”, and enter a short paragraph in the field marked “Bio”.
Your bio will appear on your profile page beneath your avatar.
It is also displayed on your User Card, which appears when someone hovers over your name in any Kindling display.
How Do I Change What Language Kindling Is Displayed in?
To change the language Kindling appears in, select your current avatar in the top-right of the screen and select “Settings”. If your Kindling has multiple languages enabled, a drop-down menu will appear here with options labeled “Language”.
Choose your desired language and click “Save” at the bottom of the screen. If there are no other languages available on your account, this menu will not appear.
