Innovation starts with ideas. Ideas evolve through discussion. And then there’s that spark – the big idea. Here’s how Kindling gets you to the spark.
Thanks to Kindling’s intuitive design, you’ll find your participants submitting and discussing ideas without any training whatsoever.
Once launched, Kindling becomes your organization’s central channel for ideas and innovation. No more messy emails and sticky notes.
Employees love using Kindling. In fact, our customer engagement levels are 77% per organization – that’s better than any other innovation management tool on the market.
Kindling catalyzes idea-sharing with built-in features designed for everyone—from the sales team to HR, accounting folks to R&D.
Sometimes you need solutions—fast. When time is short, try running a campaign, a deadline-managed drive for ideas. If you really want to get people excited, you can tie rewards and recognition to even the shortest-term campaigns.
In Kindling, designated editors can post messages to their specific groups. So when there’s a news item about a competitor’s product, an update on a campaign’s progress or a specific solution you want your group to think about, editors can be sure their alerts are immediately reaching the right people.
As soon as a participant posts an idea into Kindling, it becomes the subject of group commentary and wiki-style editing. As edits are made, they are routed back to the original author for approval. Approved edits are then reflected in the new version of the idea in Kindling.
With Kindling, ideas advance—or don’t—based on peer feedback, discussion and voting. That way, innovations can evolve to reflect the collective intelligence of your organization.
While the crowd is great at filtering and surfacing the potential big ideas, there is a time for more robust analysis and feedback from experts. Ideas evolve further through expert and moderator interaction, from tracking custom metrics to collecting structured feedback. Kindling balances the open nature of social software with the rigorous framework organizations require for moving ideas from concept to reality.
In no time, you’ll notice a handful of participants who provide the highest-level contributions. Kindling notices, too, and rewards those users with higher Reputation scores. Kindling helps you filter ideas by reputation, to give top producers top priority.
With our Recommended Engine, users get a personalized Top 5 list of the ideas that matter most to them. Based on profile and activity, this feature makes it easy for even your busiest users to stay up-to-speed on group activities.

It isn’t enough to gather ideas—the goal is to find and implement the best ones for your environment. Kindling encourages this process by giving each participant a set number of votes to indicate support for their favorite ideas. Careful consideration renders an accurate assessment of team buy-in. Before long, you’ll see the most popular ideas rising to the top.
Kindling allows decision-makers in your organization to establish evaluation criteria for ideas within a particular category. These criteria can be used, along with other metrics such as idea popularity, as the basis for deciding which ideas advance towards implementation.
In many organizations, ideas must be evaluated by decision-makers from multiple departments before they can progress. Our Assessments tool facilitates this cross-departmental syndication by allowing the category decision-maker to create and send surveys to other project stakeholders. Once stakeholders respond, the data is collated into an easy-to-read summary report, which is printable, shareable and a useful input into the decision-making process.

Designated users can export this data into Excel or use our API to run reports in Crystal Reports, Business Objects or Cognos.
Kindling is designed to work seamlessly in organizations large and small. Accounts can be configured for integration with LDAP and Active Directory for easy administration or can operate as stand-alone via invited users. For both types of accounts, Kindling supports User Groups, which can either be inherited from your organization’s internal user management system, or constructed by administrators in Kindling. Using Groups, the assignment of users’ permissions to Categories becomes less time-consuming.
We hear time and again that organizations want a tool to work out-of-the-box. Kindling is designed to add value from day one. Should you require additional configurations or customizations, your administrator can continue to refine your account. Don’t waste time building an idea management tool—use one that’s designed to work for you.

Kindling is available localized for Swedish, Dutch and French Canadian-speaking organizations. Additionally, Kindling has localized versions for US, British, Canadian and Australian English.
